I’ve specifically left as much ambiguity as possible to allow room for your imagination to fill in the gaps and evolve the race to something even different! Description Or even tales and legends about Ancient Megalodon-like monstrosities, or Rekotan abominations that resemble the Frilled Sharks and Goblin Sharks from the deep oceans of our world. There are tales of perverted versions of their folk, worshippers of Kranatea that never come to the surface and skulk in the shadows of ancient aquatic ruins. Or tales of Rekotan Bards that can coerce the sea to protect them from evil. There are numerous tales of heroes of their folk that defended their people against the agents of Kranatea. Born out of the fusion of elemental power, Rekotans are wilder, expansive, and take to heart the act of driving their folk to new experiences and greater potential. What is proven, is the origin of their race. The Rekotan mythology is not very well known, much of the Rekotan history is only recounted by their shamans. Her symbol is what most describe as a two-headed octopus. She calls them to the deep ends of the oceans, where they may never leave her womb. Kranatea on the other hand whispers in the minds of the Rekotans. She is a goddess of volatile life, expression, and even violence. Pelenadra is usually compared to active volcanoes that shape and form the islands upon which the Rekotan live. You can imagine these gods in opposition similar to Yin and Yang, which together, created the race of the Rekotan. In her opposition, sits the mother of the sea, water, and life under the sea, Kranatea. Her name is Pelenadra, the goddess of land, fire, and life above the sea. With gods resembling the lands they travel, the volcanos they visit, and the sea they plunge through, Rekotans consider themselves always watched and influenced by their gods. The Mythology of the Rekotans tells of their origin as being born from the elemental remains of their gods. They aren’t afraid to challenge great beasts, as they are led in a blood frenzy during their hunts, enhanced with powerful alchemical potions and sea roots from the depths. Hunting for prey, or protecting the ships once they make a stop. Rekotans use finely-crafted ships that pierce the waves and roam the seas for new bounty. The worthiness of their leader depends on the deeds they do, not the strength they show. Their settlements are fortified with walls out of wood and bamboo, protected by their most fierce.Įach settlement is led by worthy heroes, Rekotans that hunted great beasts, or conquered foreign tribes. Their homes are huts constructed from bamboo with thatched roofing. Taking inspiration from Polynesian cultures, Rekotans are sea-travelers, hopping from island to island, and settling homes and houses for their folk. These Rekotans are tribal folk living across different archipelagos in the middle of every high sea. It adds to the list of available beastfolk races, taking the place of shark people. The Rekotan are a DnD 5e homebrew shark race I created for one of my Homebrew Campaigns. I sure did…because of this, I created Rekotans!
